Our Child Safe Commitment
Mulga Projects is committed to the safety, wellbeing and rights of all children and young people. We believe every child and young person has the right to be safe, to be heard, to be respected and to receive care that protects their wellbeing and supports their participation in decisions affecting their lives.
We align our practice with the child safe laws, principles and standards that apply in Queensland, including the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations, the Queensland Child Safe Standards and Universal Principle, the Charter of Rights for a Child in Care, the Standards of Care, and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Placement Principle under the Child Protection Act 1999.
These frameworks guide how we listen to children and young people, promote their safety, prevent harm, uphold their rights and respond to concerns or allegations of harm.
Mulga Projects is also committed to cultural safety for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people and families. We are committed to creating environments where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families feel welcome, safe, valued, included and respected, and where connection to family, community, culture and identity is recognised as central to safety and wellbeing.
We take all concerns about child safety seriously. Where we become aware that a child or young person may be at risk of harm, we will respond in line with our legal obligations, organisational policies and Queensland child protection requirements, always keeping the safety and best interests of the child or young person at the centre of our response.
